Infidelity in a relationship can cause friction, resentment and tension, and oftentimes a couple simply cannot get past it. If you are in the midst of a breakup due to cheating, you may be experiencing a plethora of different emotions, from anger and humiliation to disappointment and pure melancholy. Do not allow a cheating ex to put your life on hold, and instead learn to approach tomorrow with wisdom and a positive outlook.

1 Focus on the future. If you constantly fixate on the past and how much your cheating ex hurt you, you are hurting yourself more than anyone else. Although it is normal to process your emotions for a while, there comes a time when wallowing in sorrow is just doing you damage. Make a point to concentrate on tomorrow so you do not waste any more time. Attain some inner peace by treating the infidelity as a learning experience -- one which will make you stronger in the end.
2 Put things into perspective. If you are suffering through a breakup as a result of cheating, you should not be the one crying your eyes out. After all, you are not the person who was unfaithful and cheated. Leave it to the cheater to waste her tears -- not you.
3 Avoid allowing the cheater to affect the way you feel about yourself. A lot of people fall into the trap of wondering what they may have done to bring upon the cheating. This behavior is always a waste of time because you have no control over another person. A cheater is going to cheat no matter what. Do not obsess over what you could have done to prevent it, whether you think you should have dressed a different way or spent more time together.
4 Throw away the relics of your romance. If you keep reminders of your time as a couple all around you, whether in your office cubicle or in your bedroom, it may cause you to forget about why you broke up in the first place. Smiling photographs of the two of you together at a French restaurant will only distract you from the reality of what happened. Refrain from getting caught up in feeling down or guilty about the breakup when you should be moving forward and not thinking about your ex ever again. Discard or pack away any reminders of the relationship as soon as possible.
5 Focus on bettering yourself. Breakups are a time of transition, no matter what may have caused them. Keep yourself busy so you don't get caught up in your feelings about the cheating and breakup. Instead, become a better and more well-rounded person. Exercise more often. Study harder. Work harder. Concentrate more on your hobbies and your talents. Visit an art museum. Go on a nature retreat and luxuriate with massages and meditation.
