Though it is difficult to let a relationship go, there is never an excuse for stalking. Stalking is an aggressive way in which some individuals seek out a relationship. In order for a behavior to be considered talking, the victim has to be very fearful of the stalker and warn the stalker to quit his or her behavior. Stalking can occur physically, through phone, through email, or through letter. Stalkers can stalk by physically following their victim, persistently attempting to communicate, or seeking out the victim. Stalking can be very terrifying for the victim, since many stalkers have become violent and the very nature of being progressively pursued is inherently frightening.

Tell the stalker as soon as possible that the relationship is over. Be firm and do not say anything that will give the stalker hope that you can have a future relationship. Be respectful, but don't be too nice.
2Cease all contact with the stalker. Any form of communication encourages the stalker. Out of sight is truly out of mind sometimes and avoiding communication will help the stalker let go.
3Document everything that the stalker does. If the stalker does approach you, ignore the stalker. But do remember when the stalker approached you, what the stalker said, and how the stalker behaved. Also document any letters, phone calls or emails. All these incidents of stalking will strengthen your case when you attempt to get a restraining order or prosecute the stalker.
4Travel with friends. Some stalkers are intimidated by others, while some stalkers aren't. But at least if you travel in a group, you will have safety in numbers.
5Have the number to the police handy in case of an emergency.
6Contact a threat management team to assess the danger risk of the stalker.
7File for a restraining order if necessary.
